A 1990 American Consulting Engineers Council of New England (ACEC/NE) award winner, Weston & Sampson’s design of the Great Sandy Bottom Pond Water Treatment Plant for the Abington-Rockland Joint Water Works included special environmental considerations and necessitated our cooperation with local, state, and federal officials. Because of the proposed site’s size and the presence of another facility, approximately one and one-half acres of the pond had to be filled. Weston & Sampson presented a design that overcame these obstacles while still complying with environmental regulations.
The treatment facility features state-of-the-art water treatment processes and is the third treatment plant that Weston & Sampson has designed for the Abington-Rockland Joint Water Works.
