Pump Station Energy Management

Energy Management Project at Providence Connection Pump Station

Weston & Sampson assisted the Lincoln Water Commission with implementing an energy management project at the Providence Connection Pump Station. The project included installation of two, 150 horsepower variable frequency drives (VFDs), installation of a new main circuit breaker, modifications to the existing motor control center, installation of a new pressure transmitter, installation of a new programmable logic controller, and installation of a new 10-inch check valve. Start-up, testing, and training by a certified technician was also included.

The annual energy usage for the Providence Connection before the project was estimated at over 525,000 kWh per year. Weston & Sampson conducted field testing to verify energy savings as a result of this project. The project results in an estimated energy savings of 85,000 kWh per year. This equates to approximately $7,200 per year in electricity costs.
