Upper Quad Improvements

Upper Quad Improvements

Babson College selected Weston & Sampson to design and implement a series of improvements to the “Upper Quad” area of campus. The improvements created a central gathering space to foster social interaction in a heavily trafficked area of campus.

Weston & Sampson worked closely with Babson College staff members in order to identify all project goals, opportunities, constraints, and other issues of concern for study, analysis, and resolution during the conceptual design phase of the project. Potential amenities and improvements in the development of the Upper Quad outdoor space included:

  • Outdoor furniture (tables, chairs and benches)
  • All weather grills
  • Paved and/or unpaved pathways
  • Steps and retaining walls
  • Tree removals
  • Tree pruning
  • New landscaping
  • Lighting

The design of improvements were compatible with other recent outdoor landscape and site improvement projects in adjacent areas in regard to potential pathway treatments, pathway edging, stair/seating/retaining wall treatments, lighting, furnishings and related amenities.
