In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the recent American Rescue Plan allocates $45.6 billion to metro cities and $19.5 billion to communities with fewer than 50,000 residents. The Treasury will distribute the funds to the States within 60 days of the bill’s signing (May 10, 2021) and states will then have 30 days to distribute the funds to the smaller cities (June 9, 2021).
Half of the funds will be distributed immediately, and the remaining half will be distributed a year later.
The funds can be used for several specific purposes, but most importantly here, they can be used to “make investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure.”
This funding will be available imminently, and in the event you have pending water or wastewater projects, we would be glad to share with you the list of states and communities that will be receiving aid. If you would like to receive it, or if you have any questions or have a project in mind that Weston & Sampson can support, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Weston & Sampson principal or project manager or to Bob Goober, Director of Business Development, at 1-800-SAMPSON.
