AWWA M36 Water Audit Methodologies Training
Course # DWT-2017-34 (3.5 TCHs)
Are you consistently above 10% unaccounted for water (UAW) on your Annual Statistical Report? Would you like to learn more about how to use a free water audit software to reduce your water losses across your system? If so, sign up today. Reducing the amount of non-revenue water can have big financial and environmental impacts for utilities. Water audits, in combination with other strategies such as leak detection, and meter calibration and replacement programs, can be an important tool for a supplier looking to optimize their system operation, improve cash flow and achieve environmental benefits. The American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) M36 Manual of Practice Water Audits and Loss Control Programs and associated free Excel-based water audit software provide utilities with guidance “in improving accountability and economically controlling water and revenue losses." This class will:
- Provide an overview of the AWWA M36 Audit Software, methodology, and benefits
- Review the data needed to complete and validate the audit
- Provide an in-class “walk through” of completing the M36 Audit, with examples
- Discuss potential water losses such as leakage (“real losses”) versus customer metering or accounting errors (“apparent losses”)
- Next steps – how to improve current operations and plan ahead for long-term strategies towards water loss reduction
- Group discussions and Question & Answer period to maximize collaboration across the class
