Jim Riordan, AICP, LEED®AP awarded the Dan Varin Memorial Leadership Award by the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Planning Association
Weston & Sampson is pleased to announce that Jim Riordan, AICP, LEED®AP has been awarded the Dan Varin Memorial Leadership Award by the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) for his long-term service to the chapter.
A member of APA since 2004, Jim was the first person to finish a six-year elected commitment to the Rhode Island Chapter, initially as President-Elect and then as President and Past President. Prior to that, he served a two-year term as Chapter Vice President. He has also served as Chair of the Southern New England APA (SNEAPA) Conference on three occasions.
Jim is a past Chair of the APA National Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy Division and the current Rhode Island Climate Champion for the Sustainable Communities Division. An APA colleague stated that Jim has “put in countless hours for the Chapter and has helped make it the organization it is today. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award.”
Jim will receive the award at the association’s Planning Awards Party on April 8, 2022 at the Moniker Brewery in Providence.
