Development of Geospatial Intelligence Applications

Evaluation of Portable Hardware and Software Systems for Delivering Mission Specific GIS Mapping and Imagery

Weston & Sampson teamed with James W. Sewall Company to provide consulting services in support of the development of geospatial intelligence applications. The project’s primary objective was to evaluate portable hardware and software systems for delivering mission specific GIS mapping and imagery products to Marine Corps forces in the field. Tasks included testing GPS units, laser range finders, and ruggedized digital cameras for ease of use, durability, and performance, as well as the functionality of MCIA’s data dissemination software. Other tasks included providing expertise on data extract-load-transform (ETL) operations relating to the conversion of data from the MCIA Enterprise Geodatabase to restructured Defense Geodatabase standards.
