Splash Pad / Skating Rink Facility

East Park Splash Pad

East Park Splash Pad is the third in a series of projects related to Weston & Sampson’s pool initiative in the City of Worcester. Between 2005 and 2008, the City of Worcester closed all nine of its municipal pools due to structural and mechanical failures. Weston & Sampson’s team of designers developed several concepts for the facility and embarked on a community outreach effort that resulted in a preferred concept plan for the facility. The effort included developing several designs for both pool facilities and splash pads.

The splash pad incorporates several interactive spray features using a recirculation filtration system. The facility also includes several seating areas, shade shelters, umbrellas, synthetic turf sun bathing areas, and other site amenities. The facility is also designed to become a skating rink in the off season allowing for year round use.

Weston & Sampson coordinated with the designers of the bathhouse and filter buildings, Lameroux Pagano Associates of Worcester Massachusetts, on this highly visible aquatics project.

The project is complete, and a ribbon cutting was held in July 2014.
