Weston & Sampson is pleased to announce that Raed M. El-Farhan, Ph.D. has joined the firm as a Vice President, based in McLean, Virginia.
Dr. EL-Farhan has more than 28 years of experience in water resource management and engineering and civil works planning. His areas of expertise include ecosystem restoration, stormwater management, water and wastewater treatment systems, water quality permitting and compliance, and the fate and transport of contaminants in the environment, with assignments spanning work in five countries. He has substantial experience working for federal agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as well as state government agencies and private clients. At Weston & Sampson, he will focus on broadening the firm’s client base in the Mid-Atlantic area and Southeast.
Dr. EL-Farhan is noted for developing the first pH/acidity Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) approach for the US EPA, being part the of team that developed the Watershed Characterization System for the US EPA, and developing the first TMDL in Canada, among others.
