Weston & Sampson provided preliminary engineering design and permitting services for four solar parking canopies with five electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for nine parking spaces for Eversource Energy at their corporate headquarters in Westwood, Massachusetts.
We prepared a Special Permit Application for a Site Plan Review by the Planning and Zoning Boards, which included a permitting design plan set. Weston & Sampson represented Eversource by preparing presentations and presenting at public hearings for the Planning Board and Conservation Commission to address technical questions from the respective boards. Our presentations included photo renderings prepared by our landscape architects/designers to present the proposed appearance of the solar canopies.
Our team also performed geotechnical investigations to verify adequate conditions for embedment of the columns for the canopy. During construction, Weston & Sampson provided additional design support services for stormwater management, including a revised stormwater analysis and design.
The project consisted of four solar parking canopy structures with approximately 350 kW (DC) of total installed capacity and was completed in 2018.
