Our firm was hired by Piedmont Natural Gas to provide full utility conflict identification and gas pipelines relocation plans in support of the NCDOT Roadway Improvement Project. The project ran along US Business 29 (Freeway Drive) in Reidsville, North Carolina. Services included the following:
- Completed preliminary utility conflict analysis along the 6+ mile roadway widening corridor. Gas line utilities present within the project corridor consisted of three different operating pressure systems, and a combination of steel and plastic piping. We reviewed DOT plans to identify potential conflicts, performed a number of utility vacuum excavations to confirm utility location and depth, and prepared a Utility Conflict Report summarizing our findings.
- Preliminary and final gas pipelines relocation plans were developed based on the utility conflicts. We took a holistic approach in developing these plans and looked at potential betterment opportunities within the project corridor. Several plan review meetings were held with PNG and DOT during the plan development. Final plans submitted to DOT included horizontal alignment, vertical alignment and detail sheets.
- We developed erosion and sedimentation control plans for the gas line work and secured the necessary permit from NC DENR for construction of the pipeline facilities.
