MS4 Permit Effective July 1st

MS4 Permit Reminder

With the effective date of the General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4 Permit) in Massachusetts and New Hampshire fast approaching, we want to provide you with some key dates to remember:
The NOI requires confirmation that the following 2003 MS4 Permit requirements have been met:
  • Outfall Mapping in Regulated Areas
  • Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE), Construction Stormwater Runoff and Post-Construction Stormwater Runoff Regulatory Mechanisms are effective
Noteworthy Year 1 requirements under the new MS4 Permit include:
  • Stormwater Management Plan Development
  • Public Education Messaging to Target Audiences
  • IDDE Plan Development
  • Catchment Delineation, Prioritization & Ranking
  • Written Site Inspection & Site Plan Review Procedures for Construction Site Stormwater Runoff Control
  • Catch Basins in Regulated Areas < 50% Full
