Downtown Roadway Reconstruction On Broad and Park Streets

NEPA documentation for Reconstruction of Broad and Park StreetsWeston & Sampson was selected by the City of Hartford to provide project management and design services for the reconstruction of Broad and Park streets. The improvements included new streetscape elements, ADA-compliant pedestrian accommodations, full-depth pavement reconstruction/restoration, new curbing and sidewalks, utility coordination, and new lighting and traffic signals on heavily traveled urban roads in densely populated commercial and residential areas. The projects were bid as three separate construction contracts, described below.

Reconstruction of Broad Street - State Project No. 63-641
This project involved the complete reconstruction and beautification of approximately one mile of inner city urban roadway between Main Street and Park Terrace. We were also responsible for preparing and making presentations at public meetings and coordinating with the client and CTDOT.

Reconstruction of Park Street - State Project No. 63-594
Weston & Sampson was responsible for providing survey and design for the reconstruction of approximately 1,500 linear feet of Broad Street from Capital Avenue to Farmington Avenue. We prepared for and conducted a public information meeting for the general public. 

Reconstruction of Broad Street - State Project No. 63-618
Weston & Sampson was responsible for providing survey and design for the reconstruction of approximately 2,100 linear feet of Broad Street between Park Street and Capital Avenue. We held a number of public meetings to keep the public informed, gain input, and keep all of the stakeholders on board. We developed a sequence of construction plans to minimize the impacts and ensure parking was available for the residences as well as the businesses.
