Boston City Hall Plaza Renovation – Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Services
Weston & Sampson, as a partner to Sasaki, Shawmut Design and Construction, the City of Boston, and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), recently completed the engineering for the geotechnical, geostructural, and environmental elements of the Boston City Hall Plaza renovation that is currently under construction.

American Rescue Plan Funding Available
The recent American Rescue Plan allocates $45.6 billion to metro cities and $19.5 billion to communities with fewer than 50,000 residents. The funds can be used for several specific purposes, including investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure.

For years, snails and worms plagued the plant’s IFAS system—originally installed to improve treatment efficiency. In partnership with Weston & Sampson, the town conducted pilot testing that proved the media could be removed while still meeting permit requirements.
In late 2023, the IFAS media was officially removed. Since then, the plant has operated smoothly—no snails required.
