Julie Eaton Receives EBC Ascending Leader Award
Julie Eaton, EIT, Weston & Sampson’s lead resiliency engineer, received the Environmental Business Council of New England 2018 Ascending Leader Award. The award was presented August 9, 2018 at the EBC Annual Garden Party in Boston, MA.
Preservation Achievement Award for Fountain Restoration
Weston & Sampson is honored to be recognized by the Boston Preservation Alliance with a 2018 Preservation Achievement Award in relation to the restoration of the George Robert White Memorial Fountain at the Public Garden in Boston.

Bocchino Receives Educational Public Health Drinking Water Award
On May 1, 2018, John Bocchino received the CT DPH Educational Public Health Drinking Water Merit Award during CTAWWA’s Celebrate Water event at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, CT.
Early Adaptation Key to Climate Resiliency
So far in 2018, we’ve experienced two Nor’Easter storms that have resulted in an estimated $2.8 billion dollars in damages. In looking a back at 2017, “…the U.S. experienced 16 weather and climate disasters with losses exceeding $1 billion, with total costs of approximately $306 billion – a new U.S. annual record,” according to the recent NOAA report. Early adaptation is key to preparing for and preventing future damages.

We wrapped up the evening with food and conversation at Public Kitchen Reading, just steps from the finish line. It was a fun and rewarding event, and we look forward to continuing the tradition next year.

Weston & Sampson is supporting the development of the Urban Forest Master Plan for Richmond, VA, guiding the city toward a more resilient and equitable future.
This initiative will:
✅ Increase Richmond’s urban tree canopy to 60% by 2037, as outlined in the Richmond 300 Master Plan
✅ Create an equity-centered approach to address historical disparities in tree coverage
✅ Implement strategies to mitigate climate risks and adapt to climate change
✅ Evaluate current city practices and develop a comprehensive, long-term strategy for managing, protecting, and expanding Richmond’s urban forest
By prioritizing green infrastructure, environmental justice, and climate resilience, Richmond is taking bold action to build a healthier, more livable city for all.
