Last night, we gathered at the Boston Winery to honor Mike Scipione, whose leadership has shaped Weston & Sampson for nearly four decades.
Mike joined the firm in 1985 and has been part of its journey ever since, helping guide us through years of steady growth and evolution. During his time as President and CEO from 2005 to 2021, the firm expanded its services and welcomed many new faces. His belief in building strong teams and creating opportunities has left a lasting impression on our culture and the way we work.
Under his leadership:
✔️ We expanded from fewer than 200 to 700+ employees (and now over 1,000!)
✔️ Broadened our services to include construction, energy, O&M, MEP, and landscape architecture
✔️ Always people-centered—mentoring, empowering, and trusting his teams
As current CEO, Frank Ricciardi commented, "Mike has been the kind of leader who listens more than he speaks, but when he speaks - everyone listens. Because his words always come from a place of thoughtfulness, experience, and genuine care. He believed in doing things the right way, even when it was the hard way. And that’s why so many of us not only respect him, but admire him. He taught me to trust my instincts, put people where they are strong and passionate, and most importantly have some fun!"
