Outdoor Recreation Needs and Funding Priorities
Weston & Sampson was selected to help develop Rhode Island’s State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP), an element of the State Guide Plan that sets the tone for meeting outdoor recreation needs throughout state and local government. Critically, the SCORP outlines funding priorities for outdoor recreation investment over the 2019 - 2024 time period, including many iconic state and local beaches, parks, walking trails, and other outdoor recreational resources.
Weston & Sampson is assisting the state with the following:
- Development and drafting of the SCORP
- Coordination with state and federal reviewers
- Public outreach, including a working group, stakeholder group, and focus groups, as well as online survey
- Presentation of the SCORP update at public meetings and incorporation of comments from the regulatory and public review processes
