Sports Courts

City-wide Improvements to Various Courts

As an ongoing contract with the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, Weston & Sampson has developed feasibility studies, preliminary and final designs, and contract documents for the refurbishment of sports courts at neighborhood park and playground properties located throughout the city. Under this effort, the city has accomplished the renovation of more than 30 courts at 16 locations. Courts have included basketball, tennis, street hockey, and other surfaces for court-related activities.

Renovation approaches have been determined based on the conditions of the courts being refurbished, funding availability, and the need to provide improved playing conditions and long-term value to the city.

Contract documents have also included the refurbishment or replacement of other site features that are integral to the court complexes, including backboards and rims, tennis nets, electrical and lighting systems, storm drainage systems, fencing, retaining walls, players’ benches, and related site amenities and furnishings.
