Vanacore Track Replacement

Weston & Sampson performed landscape architecture, engineering, and construction phase services related to the replacement of Vanacore Running Track located at North Haven Middle School.

After providing an assessment of the running track, it was determined the running track had a three-foot elevation difference between the north and south ends of the track. The rubberized surfacing was also very worn and past the end of its useful life cycle. Significant earthwork and full-depth reconstruction of the track was necessary to bring the track into compliance with American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) running track standards. Additionally, the $2M reconstruction program included a new score board, reconfigured jumping events, reconfiguration from a 6-lane to and 8-lane straight, upgrade of sports lighting to LED fixtures, ADA Accessible walkways, and reconstruction of the irrigated grass football field on the interior.
