Weston & Sampson facilitated training programs for the cities of Salem and Beverly, which both hold Green Communities Designations, to demonstrate the feasibility, performance, and cost of current and innovative technologies regarding zero net energy building retrofits and high-efficiency development.
These trainings were customized to provide information and resources to individuals and entities involved with development in the two cities, in addition to municipal staff, boards, and commissions.
Training and discussion topics included net zero enabling technology, barriers to implementation, policy opportunities, and code changes including the Massachusetts Stretch Energy Code updates and Municipal Opt-in Specialized Stretch Code.
By fostering conversations with both groups, our team helped Salem and Beverly staff gain a better understanding of the ways in which they can support continued progress in improving energy sustainability and resilience to meet climate action goals. This project executed an action that was identified in their Climate Action & Sustainability Plan.
