Captain Pond Watershed-Based Management Plan

Stormwater & Watershed Plan with $100K CWA Section 319 Grant

Weston & Sampson assisted the Town of Salem, New Hampshire, with expanding their phosphorus source identification report (PSIR) and developing a preliminary watershed-based management plan (WBMP) for the portion of the Captain Pond watershed within the town.

Our work involved expanding the PSIR pollutant loading analysis and conducting an inventory of potential and constructed public/private structural/non-structural practices for reducing phosphorus load, with estimates of pollutant load reductions attributable to each BMP. We also expanded the town’s current public education and engagement plan and prepared planning-level costs for design, permitting, and construction of any proposed structural BMP retrofits. We developed an implementation plan and schedule for the recommended measures and established short-, mid-, and long-term milestones for meeting the plan’s goals, as well as evaluation criteria to assess progress.
