Gas Line Relocation

Gas Line Redesign for Roadway & Utility Conflict Resolution

Weston & Sampson provided gas line relocation design and field design analysis for the relocation of 2012 feet of 12-inch steel and 2082 feet of 16-inch steel high pressure main lines.

This project was completed at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) Intermodal Facility as part of the Piedmont Natural Gas Master Services Agreement. The project included tie-ins, pipeline routing, pipeline location, and viable construction practices. Existing pipelines were relocated to a new easement to eliminate bends and vertical deflections under the proposed rail yard. These existing pipelines were positioned to obtain the required 10-foot minimum clearance under the tracks and avoid conflicts with proposed drainage piping.
