LNG Plant Metering & Regulating Station Replacement
12-Inch to 20-Inch Header Replacement with Advanced Gas Monitoring
Weston & Sampson was selected for an existing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant metering and regulating station replacement project in Huntersville, North Carolina.
This project involved relocating and upgrading a metering and regulating station to separate DOT CFR Part 192 jurisdictional pipelines from DOT CFR Part 193 LNG plant facilities. The station measured gas entering the plant during liquefaction and exiting during vaporization. Gas entered via a 12-inch pipeline and exited through a 16-inch pipeline, both within the plant’s security fence. A new station was constructed outside the fence to meet regulatory requirements. Upgrades included replacing the 12-inch inlet header with a 20-inch header, then reducing to 8-inch to connect to the existing plant piping, and replacing the 16-inch outlet header with a 20-inch line from the existing to new station and downstream connection. A new 250-gallon odorant tank was also installed.
