Beal Street Senior Affordable Housing
Master planning, civil engineering, and landscape design for a senior affordable housing community in Hingham.
Weston & Sampson design and civil engineering groups are working with a developer and architect on a new senior affordable housing project located in Hingham, Massachusetts.
The site master plan incorporates the new three-story residential building that seamlessly blends into the existing woodland. It includes flexible open spaces which provides residents with opportunities for gathering, recreation, and relaxation. Throughout the site new planted areas will incorporate native and pollinator species to help enhance wildlife and the surrounding ecosystems. This will improve stormwater conditions and reduce the potential for pollutants entering the infrastructure or adjacent sensitive resource areas. The overall design goals for this site are to improve the quality of life for residents by creating meaningful exterior spaces with excellent amenities, combatting climate change with green solutions to handle stormwater, and the planting of new trees to reduce the effects of Urban Heat Island. Additionally, with improved ADA-compliant sidewalks connecting the whole site, this campus will benefit its residents for years to come.
