Clay Street Senior Housing
Landscape architecture and site design for a 96‑unit affordable senior housing development in Quincy.
Weston & Sampson is providing landscape architecture and site design services for a new 96-unit affordable senior housing development in partnership with the Quincy Housing Authority.
The design goals for this urban site include providing ADA-accessible outdoor amenity spaces for residents, improving pedestrian connections to the adjacent on-site 200-unit residential tower and surrounding neighborhood, maximizing parking, increasing the urban tree canopy, and incorporating Low Impact Development (LID) stormwater solutions. The new building entrance is defined by specialty porous paving and shade trees with bench seating beneath. Native planting at the building façade helps soften the edges of this new amenity space. Dark-sky LED lighting provides a safe environment for visitors and residents and welcomes them after dark. In addition, a second-story roof terrace includes fixed and movable seating, as well as plantings and trees. The project expands affordable housing capacity on an existing public housing authority site while meaningfully improving the outdoor environment for both new and existing residents.
