Hull HCA Climate Adaptation Roadmap
Coastal Adaptation Roadmap with Risk-Based Alternatives Analysis
Weston & Sampson was selected to develop a Climate Adaptation Roadmap to adapt to frequent and future flooding for the Hampton Circle neighborhood in Hull, Massachusetts.
Our team is providing climate data assessment, managed retreat program consideration, community engagement support, design development, and feasibility analysis. The project includes robust community engagement through an educational video, focus groups, two visioning workshops, a site walk, and a survey. We are also exploring design alternatives for the area to reduce the impacts of sea level rise, storm surge, and precipitation-based flooding. All alternatives considered are informed by an analysis of climate data and feasibility of implementation. This project is one of the first to consider managed retreat in Massachusetts through the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Program. The coordinated roadmap that results from the project will inform next steps for the Hampton Circle neighborhood and the town.
