Infrastructure Capacity Assessment | Tiverton, RI
Assessing water infrastructure capacity to support future housing development in Tiverton’s North Tiverton and Stone Bridge districts.
Through RIHousing’s Municipal Technical Assistance Program, Weston & Sampson is assisting the Town of Tiverton with conducting a comprehensive assessment of water infrastructure capacity in Tiverton’s North Tiverton and Stone Bridge Fire Districts to evaluate their ability to support additional housing development.
The project involves collecting and analyzing zoning, wetlands, intermunicipal agreements, water purchase agreements, and five years of water consumption data. Our team is preparing GIS-based maps of developable private and town-owned properties, industrial park sites, and existing infrastructure, and conducting a high-level evaluation of water demand, conveyance, storage, and fire flow needs under current and full-build scenarios.
The study will identify existing deficiencies and future constraints, and propose a policy framework for prioritizing infrastructure upgrades and integrating capacity analysis into the development permitting process. Recommendations will be summarized in a final report and map atlas, which will include next steps for implementation. Findings will be reviewed with town staff, the Fire Districts, and presented at a Planning Board meeting.
