Northeast Florida Regional Council – Asset Identification & Verification
Weston & Sampson was selected to support the Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC) in identifying regionally significant critical assets under the Resilient Florida Grant Program.
The goal was to enhance the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s dataset by adding important regional assets not included in the state inventory. Our team compared state and regional datasets, identified discrepancies, evaluated asset significance, and developed a geodatabase for state submission. The project involved two tasks: reviewing flood vulnerability and sea level rise data for seven counties to find missing or misclassified assets, and collecting local data to fill gaps. Key challenges included resolving data duplicates and ensuring accuracy. The resulting dataset provides a strong foundation for future efforts, including the integration of cultural assets and improved regional collaboration.
