Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) Services

Environmental Oversight for EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant

Weston & Sampson was selected by the Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation (GMEDC), one of Vermont’s 12 Regional Development Corporations (RDCs), to provide assessment and remediation support for the former Valley Motors Site in Bethel, Vermont.

The former auto service and sales site required major environmental cleanup due to soil contamination from PAHs, PCBs, and TPH, along with asbestos and PCBs in building materials. GMEDC acquired the site under Vermont’s BRELLA program, avoiding liability, and planned to remediate and transfer it to Nolato GW, preserving local jobs. Our team helped secure a $500,000 EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant, developed a Corrective Action Plan, and managed the public bidding process. Acting as the Qualified Environmental Professional, we oversaw cleanup activities, including asbestos abatement, demolition, PCB waste removal, and engineered barrier installation, ensuring full compliance with EPA rules and the Davis Bacon Act throughout the project.
