Resilient Master Plan

Climate Resilience Master Plan with Open Space & Equity Framework

Weston & Sampson was selected to develop a Resilient Master Plan and an updated Open Space & Recreation Plan using the lens of climate adaptation and resiliency in Westhampton, Massachusetts.

This project was an opportunity to continue the work our team completed through the 2021 Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) process. Goals of this planning initiative include taking steps to promote agriculture; improving stormwater management through infrastructure and nature-based solution; addressing infrastructure needs at town facilities; introducing opportunities for compatible economic growth; guiding development to areas with no flood risk, increasing the availability of affordable housing; maintaining safe drinking water supplies; creating new recreational opportunities; improving emergency response services; and conserving, restoring, and stewarding open space to benefit people and biodiversity. This project will give Westhampton the tools to understand, analyze, envision, prepare, and take steps to become a more resilient community.
