Squirrel Hill Transient Non-Community Water System

Remote Monitoring for Multi-Zone Resort Water System

Weston & Sampson performed a comprehensive review of the 5,000 gpd water system, which is a Public Transient Non-Community (TNC) Water System that serves 29 mobile/modular houses, many of which are vacation homes in Ludlow, Vermont.

The water system needed modernization to meet the current Vermont Water Supply Rule. Our team performed a comprehensive review of the water system components and drafted a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) that recommended construction of a new 25’ by 30’ Quonset-style water building, two new 2,500-gallon polyethylene water storage tanks and a sodium hypochlorite disinfection system. Due to the system being hillside there are three pressure zones: the lowest being gravity and two separate hydropneumatic booster pumping systems. To facilitate remote monitoring, the water flow meter and a Kuntze Neon real-time chlorine analyzer were installed and connected to an Ayyeka Wavelet data system that tracks system data and automatically generates monthly operating reports of daily water usage and free chlorine levels.
