Tewksbury Department of Public Works

A modern public works facility bringing municipal operations together under one roof while supporting future growth and efficiency.

Weston & Sampon led the development of a feasibility study for a new public works facility for the Town of Tewksbury.

The study included a detailed assessment of existing conditions and deficiencies, as well as a space needs analysis to determine current and future operational requirements. We created conceptual site and building plans for the existing site, along with preliminary project budgets, to support the town in securing funding for the design and construction phases.

Following funding approval, our team advanced the project from schematic design through construction documents, producing a complete bid-ready set of drawings. We collaborated with town officials to ensure the design met the operational needs of the DPW and the established budget. The project was structured with two bid alternates to maintain flexibility and alignment with available funding, which were ultimately accepted.

The project includes a new 44,000-SF facility supporting DPW administration; engineering, highway, water/sewer operations; and school/vehicle maintenance/storage. The new facility is located on the existing property to allow uninterrupted operations during construction. Portions of the existing building were also renovated for continued municipal use, including conversion of an existing garage bay into a drive-through vehicle wash. The project ribbon cutting was in May 2026 and the facility is open for use.
