Winchester Transfer Station Upgrades
Modernizing a municipal facility for safety, efficiency, and sustainability
Weston & Sampson provided engineering design, permitting, and construction administration services for a $6 million upgrade to the Town of Winchester’s transfer station.
The project focused on repairing and reconfiguring the existing facility to improve traffic flow and support the safe, efficient drop‑off of municipal solid waste, recyclables, and organic waste.
Improvements included a new scale house, upgraded staff facilities, stormwater treatment systems, and dedicated areas for food waste and a swap shop. The project also involved demolition of a former waste incinerator and reuse of the existing structure for recyclable material storage, helping the Town enhance operational efficiency, recycling performance, and overall user experience.
