Bartlem Park Master Plan
Park Expansion Plan with Community Pool, Skate Park, and Sports Fields
The Town of Cheshire hired Weston & Sampson to develop a master plan for a 10-acre addition to Bartlem Park, a 65-acre community hub. The master planning effort for the area known as Bartlem Park South included an inventory of current assets and an analysis of future needs and implementation strategies.
Weston & Sampson engaged the community through various methods, including a park planning display at an outdoor event, an online survey, and multiple public meetings with stakeholders. This input helped shape a programming plan and schematic designs. The proposed features for the expanded park include a community pool, splash pad, 90-foot baseball diamond, soccer and lacrosse fields, a nature-based playground, skate park, pavilion, picnic area, community gardens, gathering spaces, parking areas, trail systems, and stormwater management facilities. The full buildout is estimated to cost $14 million, with $7.9 million already authorized for Phase I.
