Brockton Area Transit Station

Climate Resilient Transit-Orientated Urban Plaza

Weston & Sampson is working with Brockton Area Transit to develop a master plan for renovation of their existing bus terminal.

Our goals for this master plan include providing improved circulation from the surrounding neighborhoods and throughout the station, offering users an increased number of flexible sheltered seating opportunities, reducing the effects of Urban Heat Island (UHI), incorporating low impact development (LID) stormwater techniques, and obtaining arboretum status through the planting of new trees. New LED dark-sky lighting will make the site more welcoming and safer after dark, and a centrally located in-ground water feature will act as a focal point adjacent to the main ticket office building. Finally, a reduction in spaces within the existing parking lot will allow for the addition of a pedestrian spine with seating, native plantings, and opportunities for food trucks, community gathering, and social events to take place.
