Community Center Pools
Creating inclusive aquatic spaces that support recreation, wellness, and community connection for residents of all ages.
In the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, the Town of Newtown realized they needed a community center for people to gather.
After a generous donation from General Electric, the project was put into motion.
Weston & Sampson implemented a two-pool program for the community center. The project included a lap pool, with depths from four to eight feet, and a multi-use recreational pool with a zero-depth entry, ramps, and varying depth areas to accommodate a range of diverse programs (e.g., learn-to-swim, senior water aerobics, etc.).
With this project, the town sought to offer health and wellness opportunities to all age groups, while providing an open and welcoming environment for all.
