Former NH Marble & Fiberglass
Supplemental Site Investigation at Former Fiberglass Manufacturing Site
Weston & Sampson performed a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) at the former NH Marble and Fiberglass located at 19 Elm Street, Derry, New Hampshire as part of our New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) on-call services contract.
The former site building, originally a shoe factory, later housed a woodworking business, NH Marble and Fiberglass, among others before being demolished following waste removal and asbestos abatement. The work, conducted for NHDES and the Town of Derry, aimed to better understand site conditions and address data gaps from previous investigations. A Phase II subsurface investigation included soil borings and installation of groundwater monitoring wells. Groundwater samples revealed VOCs (trichloroethylene) and PFAS above regulatory standards. Our team recommended and completed confirmatory sampling, which verified these contaminants. Further subsurface investigations were conducted to better assess groundwater quality and define the extent of contamination.
