Morses Pond Beach & Bathhouse

Waterfront Park Redevelopment with ADA Bathhouse & Dock Access

Weston & Sampson is developing an existing waterfront amenity into a fully ADA-accessible site with two new buildings and new public open spaces in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Our design efforts involve relocating the new bathhouse and administration building closer to the existing access drive, which welcomes visitors to the site. Plans include a large outdoor terrace for gathering and dining offering views of the beach and pond. This terrace is partially covered by the building canopy, so park users have the opportunity to sit in the shade. An open-sloped lawn connect the terrace to the beach and offers another gathering area for visitors. A new system of pedestrian paths and trails provide site-wide ADA access. Once constructed, these paths will connect users to the new children’s playground and peninsula overlook located on the north of the site. New trees and native plant material will enhance the surrounding environment and reduce the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect.
