New Department of Public Works Facility
ACEC Award-Winning DPW Facility with Salt Shed & Vehicle Storage
Weston & Sampson assisted the City of Rochester, New Hampshire, in developing a new Public Works Facility, which received an ACEC New Hampshire Engineering Excellence Award–Silver.
We prepared a space needs assessment, conducted a comprehensive site selection analysis to identify a preferred site, and assisted with obtaining approval from the city to fund design and construction. The approximately 55,000-SF facility includes administration and engineering work areas, public counter, office support space, employee facilities (locker/shower/toilet/break and training), trade shops, vehicle maintenance, vehicle wash, and vehicle and equipment storage areas. Sustainable design elements included natural daylighting, heat recovery, high-efficiency radiant floor and ceiling mounted infrared heating system. We also assisted in developing ancillary support structures such as a new salt shed, city-wide fueling facility, and bulk material storage area.
