Water Main Replacement
Pipe Replacement in Private Development with Sensitive Coordination
Weston & Sampson was selected by Lee County Utilities to provide design, bidding, and engineering services for the replacement of approximately 60,000 linear feet of 8- to 14-inch existing potable water main within the Fiddlesticks Country Club Community in Florida.
Our team executed a phased design and construction approach: Phase 1 included approximately 11,000 linear feet of potable water main; and Phase 2 included approximately 49,000 linear feet of potable water main in four subareas. To minimize neighborhood disruption and the need for extensive restoration after the new replacement water main has been installed, the project was designed using HDPE piping. Horizontal Directional Drilling was used as the primary installation method. This significantly reduces maintenance and protection of traffic requirements. Services provided as part of the design include modeling, topographical survey, subsurface utility engineering, geotechnical investigation, environmental, public involvement, and permitting.
