Bennington/North Bennington PFAS
Emergency PFAS Response & Treatment with DOH Coordination
Weston & Sampson was selected by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VTDEC) to sample and analyze private drinking water supply wells surrounding a former fabric treatment facility I North Bennington, Vermont.
Initial sampling of five homes revealed elevated PFAS levels, prompting expanded testing of private wells within a 1.5-mile radius. Our team created an online signup system and coordinated sampling, analysis, and reporting for more than 300 wells in under a month. Continued results led to further expansion, with more than 500 private wells sampled in Bennington County. A digital field form captured contact and sampling data, uploaded to the cloud for real-time updates, improving efficiency. Data is provided to VTDEC in a digital format suitable for response letters and GIS use. We also performed soil and sludge sampling, observed soil boring installations, collected split samples, and conducted semi-annual PFAS monitoring.
