Easthampton Climate Action Plan
GHG Inventory & Decarbonization Roadmap for a Net-Zero Future
Weston & Sampson led the development of a Climate Action Plan for the City of Easthampton, Massachusetts.
This plan outlines how the city can reduce municipal emissions and help residents and businesses transition to net-zero by 2050. Our team created a 2017 baseline greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory using the MAPC’s Community GHG Inventory Tool to identify top-emitting sectors and guide action development. Barriers to action were analyzed through interviews, surveys, and public workshops. A comprehensive list of actions was developed, prioritized, and refined with the Energy Advisory Committee. Each action includes details on key partners, ease of implementation, timeline, cost, funding sources, co-benefits, and equity. We also analyzed emissions reduction scenarios aligned with 2030 and 2050 state targets and quantified impacts of key actions like eliminating fossil fuels, municipal aggregation, and EV adoption.

Decarbonization Roadmap & Deliverables
Weston & Sampson also crafted a Decarbonization Roadmap, specific to municipal buildings and vehicles, as part of Easthampton’s application for the Massachusetts Climate Leader Community program. Additionally, a Resident’s Guide to Climate Action was created to provide supplemental resources for community members looking to tackle climate change.Keep Exploring
