Plymouth Street Fire Station Renovations
MEP Renovations & Construction Docs for Emergency Services Facility
Weston & Sampson prepared construction documents and oversaw construction administration for the renovation of an existing fire station for the Town of Mansfield, Massachusetts.
Work included a complete roof replacement, replacement of the vinyl siding with fiber cement siding, replacement of metal windows and aluminum front entrance doors, and new HVAC systems in the administration portion of the building. The station being structurally insufficient to support rooftop equipment, combined with a lack of ventilation and a very small ceiling cavity, created challenges to providing a modern, fully functioning HVAC system. The installed solution included a four-pipe fan coil system supported by a high-efficiency gas-fired condensing boiler and a 10-ton air cooled chiller. Ventilation was introduced by reusing existing openings though the wall previously created to house “window-style” air conditioner. The entire system is controlled by a modern web-based DDC building management system.
