Water Pollution Control Facility Generator Improvements

Under an MEP on-call contract with the Town of Groton’s Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA), Weston & Sampson provided design for facility generator improvements.

Our design included removal of the existing 900-kW Waukesha Emergency Generator from the plant water loop and provided an alternate source of cooling that would not have the aggressive characteristics of the highly-chlorinated plant water. This project also involved the detailed design of a new remote outdoor glycol cooling system for this emergency generator and the replacement of existing deteriorated ventilation louvers, dampers, and controls.
