Wastewater Clarifier System Upgrades
Clarifier & Effluent Channel Upgrades with USDA Grant Support
Weston & Sampson was selected by the Immokalee Water and Sewer District to support a USDA grant and loan application for critical upgrades to its aging wastewater treatment system.
Three of the four clarifiers were more than 30 years old and had severely corroded internal components, limiting maintenance and reliability. After securing funding, Weston & Sampson was retained to provide full design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration services. The first clarifier upgrade includes replacing the flat bottom with a sloped one, installing safer centerfeed mechanisms, and modifying piping to improve settling efficiency and operator safety. Perimeter weirs with automatic brush systems are being added to ease maintenance, along with upgraded scum pits and pumps to handle waste more effectively. Once the first tank is complete, the remaining two clarifiers will undergo similar improvements. These upgrades will enhance overall plant efficiency, reduce costs, and increase operational reliability while enabling safer, more routine maintenance.
